How to make a Bow Hunter’s Ghillie Suit

October 15th, 2008

The current Bow Hunter Ghillie Suit commercially available leaves alot to be desired. It is a one piece suit that is made of natural jute. The jute threads are removed from the bow arm and the chest area. This prevents the bow string from accidentally catching onto a jute thread during the draw or the release.

Pictured below is a left-handed bow hunter”s ghillie suit. As you can see the inside of the right arm is free of jute and also the right chest area. This is a one piece suit that is quite heavy. Feedback from a few of my customers is that they wish the suit was lighter and that it was a two piece jacket and pants set.

So how can you make a better bow hunter”s ghillie suit? It”s very simple. Just purchase any of the other ghillie suits available and remove the camouflage material along the portions of the inner bow arm and chest area.

We suggest that you purchase the Ultra light Ghillie Suit or the Special Ops Paintball Ghillie Suit and carefully trim the threads or untie the threads from the netting. Once complete, you will have a lightweight two piece bow hunter”s ghillie suit!
